The show was amazing!Shuffle-Zebra-Dance-Party-Reaction-Gif

Seriously, thank you for making it happen. It’s one thing to make the art, but for you to buy (It’s almost all sold out oh my goodness!), encourage, party, smile, hug, laugh, come out, encourage even when you couldn’t come out with text, email, messages –

I may have made the art, but Jamie at 8 Ball Gallery made the space, and you all made the show when you came. Basically, I really feel like this was a moment of the lifetime. No matter what happens after this, I always had this moment with you all. Who knows what the future holds, this may have been my lucky streak, or the beginning. One thing is for certain, that was awesome.

My deepest of thanks.

And now, for some photos of the event! The whole album is here on flickr, we actually didn’t get that many photos on my camera since the battery died, but here are a few choice selects where I’m not making faces, and group photos for scrolling enjoyment.

Getting back into art, moving studio, no COMICON, yes solo show!

So June was a wash. I got into a car accident that gave me such bad whiplash I couldn’t even cut my own vegetables. Work was patient and supportive as I took vacation days and physical therapy. Finally I can turn my head. However, the amount I can work and the speed of it are limited – I’m recovering, and doing what I can slowly but surely.

Sadly, due to my injury I will not be showing at COMICON, and I will not be attending either. I still have some healing to do. This was a hard decision, but the right one. I will stalk the internets as people instagram, tweet, and facebook about all the wondrous happenings there. Hopefully my bittersweet voyeurism will fuel me a full year of productive art.

On top of it all, we are also moving this month! I will have my own room for a studio. Imagine, a proper door to keep our creative cats from helping me paint when I’m not looking. It also has an outdoor workshop with room for my expanding collection on tools, clays, and castings! As soon as we finish setting up I’ll post some before and after photos. This is as nerve-wracking as it is exciting – moving a studio while preparing for a show? A show?? YES READ ON!

I’ll be having my first SOLO SHOW in Burbank celebrating Dia De Los Muertos. It will be at the clothing shop 8 Ball (damn cute clothes err mah gurr!) in their Blairing Images Gallery, opening Night November 1 and open through November 30th. (Same street as Porto’s Bakery! NOM NOM!) So as more details arrive I will share.

I really need to catch up on my lost month and get to working. I’ll be making quite a few new Muertitas and paintings for the show. Ill be sharing my process across my tweets, grams, tumblings, and facebook. If you want to be updated on pre-order’s and the like, you can sign up on my mailing list.

And as a visual treat, some photos I took of spending time with the awesome family I married into. ❤

With flashlights and lazerpointers.

And until I get a real clamping system, my dad’s tripod will do as I work on my mini Muertitas!

Köszi Papa! ❤

Found a temporary clamping system in my tripod for my second pass at casting. Taking a break. Will continue tomorrow.

Honored to be Published in Tongue Magazine

Tongue Magazine is an Art, Culture, and Lifestyle Magazine, both digital and published. In October they contacted me for a spread in their magazine. Of course I went for it, but I had absolutely NO IDEA my art would be on their cover!!!!!

Here are some ways to show you how I feel.

A very special thanks to Tongue Magazine, its editors, programmers, publishers, street team, and to Eder Escobar. Thank you for this opportunity. So much excitement has filled me I cannot sleep and I am writing this post instead.

The Box Of Treasure

This is how big of a box would arrive at your door if you were to order an original #Muertita. Within is a complex system of cardboard, bubble wrap and ribbons. It was fun to figure out how the Muertita would be suspended in a double cardboard box. It feels good to have solved this challenge.

Happy New Year at Mammoth Mountain!

To explain my recent radio silence: Mammoth Mountain in California was taking up all my attention. Here are some photos from the adventure! Surprisingly, not much snow fell, but the lifts were open and the runs were GREAT fun. Another fantastic feature of little snowfall was beautiful hikes with patches of snow, crisp skies and chill winds.
