The Birth Of Density

Finished! This is a visual quilt of 25 panels. Once I get this scanned and have prints made, I will cut up the original for the 25 special edition books of “Sleepless”. I will post on my site, blog, facebook, and twitter when all aspects of this art piece are available.
Watercolor, graphite, and india ink. I have also submitted this piece to Art Takes London. Here’s hoping!

Post-it Art

See what happens when the computer is slow and I’m sitting there waiting for giant files to save? SEE WHAT HAPPENS?!?! POST-IT ART! Thats right, world. Those bright yellow, too small or too big pieces of sticker paper that terrorize our desks is on on your INTERNET.

Your tears feed the inky waters of my inspiration.

Reason To Be Filthy Rich

I would buy this table. Right now.
I would call, and say….give me your octopus table, and I will pay you. Then, I would commission them to replace the glass with wood, and then create a matching sofa set. How would they make a bronze sofa of octopi that is comfy?? That’s what the money is for – I would pay them to figure it out. “MAKE ME A SOFAAAAAA!!!!”
And then I would sit atop my SofaOctopusThrone, sipping mojitos off my octopus table, and daydream since I will have solved world hunger by then.

We Reached 300 Fans On Facebook!! Painting On Ebay For $1 Soon!

A hearty thank you to my readers, supporters, and fellow artists: we reached 300 fans on my Facebook Fan Page! This is an awesome feat. You see, I turned 30 years old on the 30th of this last October, and now there are 300 fans. All these threes and zeros would make my head spin, but I just think its awesome. To celebrate, I’m putting a painting on Ebay for $1 sometime in the next few weeks. Yep, an original painting for ONE DOLLAR!!! So, if you are the ONE person who bids on it before the bidding closes, you will get a painting for one buck. Or, a few people bid and you get an original for $3! You get the idea. In this way I reward the readers and frequenters on the blog-o-sphere. I will let you know when that happens….hold on to your garters because it will be soon.

Today’s daily sketch is dedicated to you guys:

"The Artist"

I would like to introduce you to a new character we were discussing. For now, all I will tell you is that she is called “The Artist”. And remember that “Kraken” sketch I did for my coloring book? I loved it so much, she gets a little pet inspired by that. Except this bejeweled octopus can float in the the air and kick it on her little octopus pauldron.

Coconut Carrying Octopus

Mr. Strand, thank you for this fantastic link. I love me my cephalopods, but this one has grabbed and run across the sea floor with my heart. Please, enjoy. May Wednesday prove be to easier than Tuesday was.

Daily Sketch 20090618 : Squidface (Nautilla) and Squidheart

It appears that Nautilla and Squidheart are friends – or at least this is when they first meet. I like drawing them.

Daily Sketch Wednesday : Stationary 1

I enjoy the tactile experience of writing a letter by hand, with a pretty pen, on pretty paper, trying to formulate a complete thought before writing it down..the whole process is something that takes effort, time, and I enjoy all of it very much. My favorite part, other than sending it to a friend, is choosing the paper and the envelope. So I went on a search for stationary. I was extremely disappointed. It seems, that to get any kind of stationary that is remotely logical, like a nice sheet of paper at a good size, more than one sheet per envelope, and a distinct style or look that is refreshing and some reflection of my mood without overwhelming the page, one needs to go to the specialty stationary store 50 miles from where I live. Everything else is cremes, monograms, one sheet of paper per envelope…etc.

It made me wonder…have I changed, have my standards for stationary changed really so much that I cannot find anything I like anywhere unless I go to a specialty shop? Or is it that people don’t write letters all. I know there’s less of it, obviously….but then wouldn’t that make the occasion of picking up a nice pen and fancy paper even MORE special? Wouldn’t it be an even bigger deal?

There’s PLENTY of thank you cards with what you want to write filled in FOR you….so..they must be selling well if there are so many of them.

Its just odd.

So, anyway, I’ve got a few ideas for stationary that I want to make for myself. I might be sketching them out this week. And here’s two ideas on one page.
